Our Hoofbeats programs runs at the same time as the school terms. Each Saturday we offer a morning program (7.30am to 11.30am all seasons) or an afternoon program (in winter 2.00 to 5.00pm or in summer 2.30 to 5.30pm). This horse riding program is for children from 6 to 12 years old.

For children over 12 please see our EA (Equestrian Australia) program.

Hoofbeats Program – 6 to 12yr old’s

For all the 6 to 12 year old’s, each Saturday the riders have a private 30 minute horse riding lesson and then the rest of the time is spent learning, hands on, how to care for horses. This includes horse management activities which the riders work through at their own pace, these activities cover horse care, horse behaviour and stable management in addition to their riding achievements. The Hoofbeats program is ideal for those children who would like to own their own horse but are not be in a position to get one. Morning or afternoon tea is also provided.

On the last Saturday of each term a Gymkhana is held in the morning for all horse riders, with ribbons to be won by all and trophies for “Hardest Worker” and “Most Improved Rider” which are presented at the end of term break-up party. “Certificates of Achievement” are also awarded for the Horse Management Activities at the end of  each term as the horse riders work through the Hoofbeats Syllabus. There are 3 main levels of skill development in the Hoofbeats Program;

  • Introductory Knowledge
  • Intermediate Knowledge
  • Solid Knowledge

Once the riders have worked through this skill development they are ready to enter the EA Term program. Rider logs are updated after each horse riding lesson to ensure each child has continuity to their lesson. These logs are also for parents so that they can follow their child’s’ progress.
