Interested in learning to ride a horse in Brisbane?

Wattle Creek Horse Riding School offers a range of One on One Adult Horse Riding Lessons or Group Lesson in Brisbane. Adult horse riding education starts with private horse riding lessons, catering for beginners to advanced riders.  If you are needing a “Confidence Boost” we have lessons tailored to get you back in the saddle and enjoying horse riding again. Our Horse Riding Coaches have great empathy and are well educated to meet your riding needs in a safe environment with safe horses. Squad riding (group horse riding lessons) and horse management is also offered for a complete education of horse skills.  Clients can follow the Equestrian Australia syllabus or just come and learn, hands on, to soak up the knowledge in a safe environment. All Coaches are Equestrian Australia (EA) certified or working towards their certification. Wendy Lyons is a SSTA (Equestrian Australia Skills Specific Trainer & Assessor) and is the assessor and educator if following the EA syllabus. The Connection

Learning to ride a horse is far more than simply mounting, dismounting, rising to the trot, holding the reins, or learning how to stop and turn. These are the mechanical skills that follow once we understand how to communicate with a living, thinking animal. One of the most important steps in riding is learning how a horse thinks and why he reacts to what we do.

This connection with the horse is often overlooked by riders who focus only on the mechanics. Too often I see the priority placed on going faster and jumping higher. In reality, a new rider’s mantra should be: connection and communication with my horse. The best place to begin building this foundation is on the ground, through in-hand work.

The first part of your lesson may start with you building a connection and communication with your horse with inhand work before you mount.
